We put our patients first, and you can expect to be treated by Dr. Maddy on each and every visit using the latest and best technology. We want to be an uplifting source for the Northern Michigan Community, in and out of office.
Meet The TeamDr. Maddy Stumpos
Dr. Maddy Stumpos grew up in Lansing, MI, she earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she graduated with honors. She completed her Orthodontic residency at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) where she received an excellent education and rigorous clinical training. Dr. Stumpos has also demonstrated her dedication to the Orthodontic specialty and commitment to providing the highest quality of care to her patients by becoming an American Board Certified Orthodontist.
Upon graduation, Dr. Maddy and her husband moved to Colorado, a place that they have both loved since they were young. She practiced in the greater Denver area for a couple years. While she loved treating her patients and exploring the mountains, she knew it was not home and decided to move back to the great state of Michigan. She is excited to be back home and join the northern Michigan community!
Dr. Maddy has a passion for creating beautiful, healthy smiles for her patients. She values life-long learning and stays current on the latest research, technology, and trends in order to provide evidence-based treatment and predictable results. She also enjoys giving back to the profession by staying involved in local and state dental organizations.
When Dr. Maddy is not in the office, she loves spending quality time with family and friends, as well as spending time outdoors. Her favorite activities include biking, hiking, and snowboarding with her husband, Tom. Dr. Stumpos met Tom while attending the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is a practicing general dentist.

Dr. Sara Bergsma
Our Transition plan
Dr. Maddy has purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. Sara Bergsma. Dr. Sara has served the community and created beautiful smiles for over 30 years and is moving towards retirement. Dr. Maddy and Dr. Sara will be working together to ensure a smooth transition for all patients.

With over 30 years of practice in Traverse City, Dr. Sara has been blessed to be able to share a journey to a beautiful and healthy smile with awesome individuals and families from Traverse City and northern Michigan. Dr. Bergsma has decided to transition the practice and work her way into retirement. She is forever grateful for each patient and family that she served at Bergsma Orthodontics.

Sue is one of the 2 main “fixtures” you will see at the front desk of Traverse City Orthodontics. Sue has been at the office for 21 years and has made the office her second home with her second work family! When she is not with her work family, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. Sue’s favorite hobbies include maintaining an Airbnb, gardening, kayaking, biking, reading, playing cards, and walking her dog, Zander, a sassy 18lb terrier.

Maureen has been with the office for 30 years! She is our Office Coordinator and makes sure everything is running smoothly! When she is not running the office, Maureen enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs!

Jaslyn | Orthodontic Assistant
Fun Facts:
Jaslyn is one of our amazing orthodontic assistants. She helps with all clinical procedures ranging from taking photos to putting braces on! She attended Delta College and is a registered dental assistant. Jaslyn loves building relationships with our patients and being a huge part in creating gorgeous smiles and boosting our patient’s confidence. She loves making the office a fun and enjoyable place for everyone! She has a loving husband, 2 dogs, and is a mother to be! She is expecting a baby girl in January. Jaslyn is looking forward to continued adventures on the water, in the UP with our little one by our side.

Taylor is a registered dental assistant and helps with all clinical procedures. Taylor also works hard behind the scenes to make retainer and keep our lab running smoothly! Outside of work, Taylor enjoys reading, kayaking, swimming, and spending time with her four kids and her partner, Trevor.
